Foothills Veterans Helping Veterans (FVHV) is proud to partner with a number of organizations in an effort to provide needed help to veterans and their families. Below is a list of groups with whom we are connected.

Purple Heart Homes – Purple Heart Homes provides transitional housing as well as repairs to homes. www.purplehearthomesusa.org.

Highways and Hedges – Highways and Hedges offers assistance to homeless and needy veterans in the greater Catawba Valley. Contact info: 828-781-8095; www.facebook.com/highwaysandhedgesnc/

Hickory Soup Kitchen – The Hickory Soup Kitchen provides meals and counseling to homeless and needy people and provides space for the FVHV to hold meetings each Friday at 9:30 a.m. – www.hickorysoupkitchen.org

Veterans Bridge Home – Veterans Bridge Home, located in Charlotte,NC, connects veterans and their families, in any state of transition, to the community through a network of partners. = www.VeteransBridgeHome.org

Veterans Treatment Court of Catawba County (VTC) – The Catawba County VTC offers veterans who have committed non-violent felonies or misdemeanors an opportunity to get back on their feet through a structured program that offers counseling, a variety of resources, and a veteran mentor. FVHV has contributed financially to help the VTC provide incentives and to help with the VTC housing initiative. Members of FVHV also serve as mentors in the VTC.

Exodus Homes – Exodus Homes is a faith-based United Way agency offering transitional housing, counseling, and employment to men and women who have been recently released from prison. The Assistant Executive Director, Rev. Susan Smith, helped form what is now the Foothills Veterans Helping Veterans in2011. Exodus Homes also provides office space for the FVHV at a nominal monthly rate. www.exodushomes.org.

V.O.I.C.E. – VOICE (Volunteer Outreach in Community Efforts) is a volunteer organization that, among other things, collects shoes for needy and homeless people, especially veterans. Contact Marcia Hubbard at 828-851-7437 or at blessedhf2@gmail.com.

Safe Harbor – – Safe Harbor is a Christ-centered community for rebuilding, renewing, and recovery. http://safeharbornc.org

Shining Hope Farms – Shining Hope Farms is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enable children and adults to reach their full potential through the use of equine activities and therapies. Veterans can ride free through the Salute and Saddles program. http://shininghopefarms.org

Walk With Me Healing Steps – Walk With Me Healing Steps uses equine therapy for mental health and support services. www.walkwithmehealingsteps.com

GHCCM – Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministries, in response to God’s call, provides hope, help, and healing for all in most need through service, advocacy, and community support. www.ccmhickory.org

ABCCM – Asheville-Buncombe Cooperative Christian Ministries is a Christian non-profit in Asheville, NC committed to serving those in need with the help of volunteers, donors, businesses and churches. A division of ABCCM is the Veterans Services of the Carolinas (VSC). A number of the FVHV group work for the VSC helping to find housing for veterans in the greater Hickory area. www.abccm-vsc.org

Carolina Caring – Carolina Caring provides expert hospice, palliative, and primary care to seriously ill patients in the greater Hickory area. One of the special programs offered by Carolina Caring is a pinning ceremony for veterans.

Hickory Sunrise Rotary – The Rotary Club of Hickory Sunrise has partnered with the FVHV for many years volunteering to help with the Foothills Veterans Stand Down. It is the small club that does big things. https://hickorysunriserotary.org

Hickory 4 Vets – Hickory 4 Vets understands the transition for veterans and military families back into the civilian world can be a very difficult and frustrating task. The goal at HKY4Vets is to cut through the noise and make the transition easier, providing veterans and their families a possible roadmap to a place they might one day call “home.” www.hky4vets.com

Bended Knee Outdoors – Bended Knee Outdoors is a 400 acre farm located in Granite Falls, NC designed to help veterans and their families as well as disabled adults and youth through the grace of the outdoors. Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina– Goodwill Industries is is a nonprofit organization that has served the community since 1926.  Through the sale of donated items in our stores, we fund employment and training programs that help people find hope, opportunity and jobs.  We are recognized nationally as one of the most efficient charities – channeling 89 percent of revenues to mission and sustainability. This efficiency enabled us to provide services to more than 38,000 people in the last year alone.

Soul to Sole Connection – Soul to Sole Connection is dedicated to the mental health of local military, first responders, and their families.
